That spike in Hillary Clinton-related blog posts corresponds with her announcement that Celine Dion's "You and I" was her constituent-chosen campaign theme song. It turns out that "blogs" include a substantial number of news feeds, so this to some extent reflects the fact that this spectacle was also the most "newsworthy" event of the past month. Taking a six month view, the only events that have received more coverage are the initial campaign announcements from Clinton and Barack Obama, Ann Coulter's "faggot" slur against John Edwards, and the news of Elizabeth Edwards's cancer.
This is a nice reminder that what happens in the political blogosphere mostly stays in the political blogosphere. It's frustrating that the press lapped up the substance-free from the Clinton campaign while putting comparitively little emphasis on all that boring policy stuff. But as best I can tell, Team Clinton accepts these dynamics and tries to work within them, while the Edwards & Obama camps are more interested in changing the game.
