Here's another graph of blog coverage, this one charting McCain/Giuliani/Romney's appearances in blog postings. Two things are immediately obvious:
- Republican Presidential candidates generate 20-50% less coverage than Democratic candidates.
- Bad news for John McCain (but not Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney) generates more coverage than anything else.
As for other Republican candidates, both Giuliani & Romney's major missteps (on choice & foreign policy for Giuliani; hunting for Romney) were folded into the fundraising news cycles, so it's hard to untangle their impact. But the overall picture of blog coverage suggests Democrats are better able to influence the narrative surrounding both parties' candidates.
Then again, all the Republican activist energy could be spent trying to make Nancy Pelosi into Medusa.
