This is baffling. How can human beings communicate using cardinal directions? I have many virtues, but I am not a compass. When someone explains that my destination is east for a bit, then north, they're basically telling me to go in a direction for awhile, then switch and choose another one. Yet people use cardinal directions all the time. What's wrong with left, right, up, and down?
