Those of you weren't privileged to read our undercover blogging from the Conservative Political Action Conference missed out on a lot of fun, but most especially hearing about Ann Coulter's racist wit. Fear not! Rather than write two screeds in one week Coulter put the entire speech, almost verbatim, into column form on FrontPage magazine. But, as our intrepid reporters Adam DeDent and Annika Carlson noticed, she changed one slur that she was criticized by a CPAC attendee for using. So, no more will she refer to Muslims as "ragheads" they shall henceforth be know as "jihad monkeys." Much more civilized. As my colleage August J Pollak notes, this self-censorship seems to contradict the very same self-congratulatory tone she strikes over her brave bluntness in the very same column.
Our transcript from the conference also contains this exchange:
Student: Thanks for coming down and regaling us with your wit. What I wanted to know was when are you planning on expanding your little routine to cover blacks, Jews and Asians.
....
Coulter: Oh, ok--maybe when they fly planes into our skyscrapers and kill 3000 Americans (inaudible due to applause). Maybe then I'll make jokes at their expense.
Now this exposes Coulter's logic in all its fatousness. If nineteen Jews hijacked plans and flew them into buildings would all Jews, myself included, be held responsible by Coulter and her ilk? Better question still: what if it was nineteen blond WASPY women?
