As I reported here on TAPPED a few weeks ago, Rod Parsley, he of the apocalyptic and anti-secular money-making empire, campaigned with John McCain in Ohio, putting his imprimatur on the candidate as a bona fide conservative.
Yesterday at Mother Jones, David Corn discovered Parsley's goal of destroying Islam, a "false religion," and that has rocketed around the Web. If Barack Obama must denounce Louis Farrakhan, then surely McCain should have to denounce Parsley.
As if in response, Fox News aired a segment on Obama's pastor Jeremiah Wright. Here (via The Politico) a two-minute segment of his preaching is apparently offered up as evidence of his bigotry, as he talks about, um, racism.
The Fox piece is clearly an effort to say, see, the Democrat has a crazy preacher, too! (Although the context for Wright is his advocacy for social, economic, and racial justice.)
Why, though, does Parsley think Islam is a false religion? Is this some random rant from the archives? No, Parsley believes that in the end, Jesus is going to ride into Jerusalem and claim the Temple Mount for himself.
