CZAR? What's the deal with this "War on Terror Czar" nonsense? Drum:
The other brainchild of the surge, Frederick Kagan, thinks the czar idea is a dandy one: "Hope they do it, and hope they do it soon. And I hope they pick the right guy. It's a real problem that we don't have a single individual back here who is really capable of coordinating the effort."Right; we don't have one guy, we just have several guys, including the commander of CENTCOM and the Secretary of Defense, who should have this kind of authority. Is it just my imagination, or is seeking a "Czar" the only Republican response to a bureaucratic disaster? They seem to think that just about any problem can be solved if you find the right man of "will" and "vision" to solve it. Hey; what's Bernie Kerik doing these days? File this as more evidence that a political party that hates government and doesn't believe that good governance is possible can't actually govern. Matt and AG have more.
