I don't want to be too much of a wanker here, but in context, Cindy McCain didn't really say that "in Arizona, the only way to get around the state is by small private plane." In the clip, McCain is talking about her husband's run for Senate, and how the only way to campaign around the state is by riding in a lot of small planes, which terrified her. This is, in general, true. Statewide candidacies in places that aren't Rhode Island are typically brought to you by Cesnas. Politicians have to get to different corners of the land in the same day, and the distances are too far for driving while the schedules are too tight for commercial flight. So they take small planes. I had a post all ready to go making fun of Cindy McCain's comment, and noting that you could also travel on a road made of dollar bills or on the backs of day laborers, but if you watch the clip, she's making a pretty routine observation on how contemporary campaigning works. And it's actually admirable that she tried to deal with her fear by taking pilot classes and getting a flying license.
