Over at The Motherblog, Mori catches Colin Powell impishly noting, in response to questions about Obama's executive experience, "He didn't have a lot of experience in running a presidential campaign, did he?" Fair point. As Mori says, it "neatly sums up the paradox of bringing 'experience' to the presidency. When it comes right down to it, the only people who ever have the relevant experience for the presidency are ex- or single-term presidents. Since neither George W. Bush nor Bill Clinton can run again, that means Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush are the most 'experienced' politicians out there." I'm not sure Mori really realizes the force of this observation, though. The Draft Carter movement may, as Carter himself says, be the country's only hope.
