People talk about how Rendell is allergic to message, but he's currently saying "John McCain" twice a sentence and offering a speech that's basically a brutal deconstruction of McCain's feints towards the mainstream. It's happening at 5:31pm and the arena is only half full so no one is going to see this, but it's the most on-message of any speech I've seen at the convention thus far. Update: According to Seth Colter Walls, the thing in the lower-third in the screen that summarizes that part of the speech is called the "chyron." Huh. In any case, it currently says, "Rendell: McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time." And that is why this speech, despite Rendell's rough speaking style, is one of the better of the convention thus far.
