In this interview from New Orleans with ABC's Robin Roberts, the now-chilled out Bill Clinton is calling for his wife and Barack Obama and their campaigns to “just chill out.” I have a piece in Salon today asking for the same—not about the racially-tinged stuff (though that would be helpful), but on the “I’m electable but you’re not” and “I’m rubber and your electability is glue—what bounces off me sticks to you” squabbling.
What always amazes me about the Big Dog is how well he delivers a talking point without making it seem like he's spinning you; just watch him, late in the interview with Roberts, pushing the line about Hillary winning the popular vote and how that just makes the whole nomination battle too tricky to figure out who won. Michelle Obama is a tough customer, but let’s be honest: Despite his gumming up of the black vote--which I think was a huge mistake and, IMHO, cost her the benefit of a firewall as important if not more important than Hispanics--Bill is still a formidable asset for Hillary.
