The general thesis of McCain's speech: "I am more confident tonight that it will turn out way better than once expected." He also keeps referring to the United States as "her" in a weird creepy uncle kind of way: "I am grateful for the prospect that I might serve her a little while longer ... Her strength is our greatest treasure ... Her goodness the hope of mankind."
But as he exited the stage, the disembodied voices of MSNBC's pundits rip into the speech: "It sounded like every adviser he'd ever had had given him one sentence." So much for the media's undying love of McCain -- the pundits here seem to think this speech will hurt his prospects down the line.
