THE ENDORSEMENT RACE. If you had to guess which Democratic presidential candidates had been endorsed by the most Iowa legislators, you'd think John Edwards, the long-time front-runner in that state, surely would be in one of the top two spots. But, no, reports Iowa Independent today. Joe Biden is now in second place, with 8 legislator endorsements to establishment favorite Hillary Clinton's 16, which also puts him ahead of Barack Obama. Biden won the support of the Iowa House of Representatives majority leader and assistant majority leader with his plan to extricate America from Iraq, which House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of Des Moines called "the most credible plan to get us out without causing further chaos." McCarthy helped Iowa Democrats retake the Iowa House last year, giving Iowa Democrats control of the House, Senate, and Governor's mansion for the first time in 40 years.
