The McCain campaign has been pushing hard on the idea that Governor Palin has "more executive experience" than Joe Biden or Barack Obama, because she was a mayor and then a governor. By this metric, she also has more experience than John McCain. At any rate, this was Obama's response to a question in this vein from CNN's Anderson Cooper last night:
My understanding is that Governor Palin's town of Wasilla has I think 50 employees. We've got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.
I'd say that's a pretty solid response.
As long as we're using the campaigns themselves as a measure of the candidates' ability to run a large organization, last year the McCain campaign almost collapsed from lack of fundraising and debt.
