I take no joy in any man's death, but it shouldn't be occasion for a whitewashing of their life. I'm sorry Jerry Falwell was killed by a cardiac arrhythmia. Little scares me more than the unexpected, and fatal, strike of cardiovascular chaos. Regret over his passing, though, does not erase his genuine divisiveness, his sustained and enduring intolerance, and his pernicious impact on American political life.
