Russ Feingold's campaign is out with a new spot emphasizing his independence, noting that his opposition to automatic pay raises for members of Congress have "earned him a lot of lonely lunches in Washington."
There's no doubt that Feingold is facing a difficult electorate this time around, and I'm skeptical that his consistent opposition to excessive government power earns him any friends among the Tea Party crowd. Nate Silver's model still has him inching past his opponent with a two-point lead.
