I basically agree with Ramesh here. I'm not sure who Massimo Calabresi is talking to, but so much as it's in Democrats' interests to make it look like they extracted a bunch of concessions before agreeing to the FISA compromise, they basically let themselves get rolled because they didn't want this issue to linger and be used against them in the 2008 elections. It's not exactly a profile in courage.
