This was fairly remarkable: The striking Houston Janitors -- already trampled, injured, and arrested -- had their bail set at $888,888 each. These are janitors making $20 a day. POWs in the Class War. By contrast, a Houston man charged with murder had his bail set at $30,000. I'd love the "reasonable liberal" or "sane conservative" explanation for why that happened. A local magistrate judge, recognizing the insanity of it all, later reduced the bail to $1,000 each.
I'll say it again: Support the Houston Janitors. The history of this country shows the American Dream isn't granted, it's won. And if these workers are willing to be jailed for a fair wage, the least we can do is tell the building manager, Hines, that they should get it. Go do your part.
