I hear this a lot, and it came up in comments earlier, so let's address it: there's no reason globalization will kill unions. None. It was simply never the case that the entire United State was unionized. Companies could always fire their workers, hire scabs, move to the non-unionized South -- just like globalization, but even closer. Are some jobs vulnerable to outsourcing? Sure are. But so far as any jobs will be hanging around the states, they're as ripe for organizers as they've always been. Which, given the current state of labor law, isn't very ripe at all.
