This Times article on experimental cooking contains a fairly good description of my relaxation philosophy:
“It was incredibly precise and demanding work,” he said. “I think many scientists enjoy cooking because it’s a little like lab work, but not too much.”Right. I like going on vacations where I can occasionally read the internet and toss up a blog post. I like writing about food because it's like writing about politics, but not too much. This is a tendency that friends and past girlfriends have not exactly thrilled to in me, but I like the things I do! When I relax, I ratchet them back, rather than eliminating them completely.
