If, as the New York Times suggests, the subprime crash is about to spread into "prime" loans, than that is a very, very bad thing. Worse, Dean Baker not only says they're right, but that things are far grimmer than they realize (he suggests looking into newly issued prime loans, rather than the whole universe of prime loans). Dean's predictive record has been scarily accurate of late, so we're probably all screwed.
