Something's been bothering me about Mike Huckabee's rhetorical style. It had a naggingly familiar ring to it. And then, after seeing his new ad about government regulation, I figured out the analog: With his reliance on alliterations and clever rhymes, Huckabee is the white Republican version of Jesse Jackson. Doubt me? Watch these two YouTube videos, with the key parts in quotes: 1. On the fair tax: "The fair tax…it’s fair, it’s flatter, it’s finite, it’s family friendly.” 2. On government regulation: “Excessive taxation, litigation and regulation leads to job migration. Let’s change this nonsense to common sense.” (This one also summons the legendary Adam Sandler character, Cajun Man.) Up with hope, down with dope, Gov. Huckabee! --Tom Schaller
