I seem to remember that midway through the Democratic primary, there was a lot of chatter about how Obama's promise of a "new politics" meant he couldn't really go on the attack, as that would generate terrible media coverage and sink his campaign. Interestingly, this has not been a problem for McCain. Apparently, McCain proved himself committed to a politics of honor and decency sometime between 2001 and 2004, and can now go around running crypto-racist ads and lying about Obama without any fear of reprisal. All of which is to say, I think it's time for a new blogospheric term: IOKIYJM: It's okay if you're John McCain.
