I've seen a lot of people discussing these general themes before, but Jane Galt's post on Mexican immigrants and how they're at least as benign as the immigrants of the past is very good. For all my pro-Irish sentiments (I have this weird displaced post-colonial thing, plus the girls are lovely and the fiddle playing is excellent) I appreciated the point about how "the Mexicans aren't the ones giving money to terrorist groups who promise to reverse a centuries old land grab."
