In the interest of reducing water pollution, Washington state, among other states, has instituted a ban on phosphates, making dishes much harder to clean if you clean your dishes in a dishwasher. While phosphates were banned from laundry detergent years ago--similar complaints followed then--states have only recently begun banning them from dishwasher detergent. According to the Christian Science Monitor some lawmakers want to consider a national ban. Erick Erickson thinks it's time for some good old mob justice:
At what point do the people tell the politicians to go to hell? At what point do they get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?
Then, Erickson concludes that this could be part of the GOP's winning platform of a return to federalism:
If the GOP plays its cards right, it will have a winning issue in 2010. But it is going to have to get back to “leave me the hell alone” style federalism where the national government recedes and the people themselves will have to fight to take their states back from special interests out of touch with body politic as a whole.
Yeah, I mean, nothing will show those states that they can't pass laws banning phosphates like leaving it up to the states.
Meanwhile, Rep. Pete Sessions says Republicans could learn lessons from Taliban insurgents, Rep. Michele* Bachmann is calling for a "revolution" against "tyranny" and Dick Morris thinks that "those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the U.N.'s going to take over' -- well, they're beginning to have a case."
Where would we be without such brave warriors to protect us from the shrill rantings of the angry left?
