- I'll be liveblogging tonight's debate at 8 PM EST (7 central, 8 mountain and pacific) on ABC. Meanwhile, ABC is insisting on absurd rules that limit use of clips of the debate to 45 seconds. Other news organizations are expected to flout the rule citing the doctrine of fair use, and rightly so. This raises a larger point though: why do candidates allow networks to control the copyright of debates? They should be released into the public domain for people to use as they see fit -- they're part of the democratic process after all.
- Marc Ambinder summarizes the state of the debate on the politics of the working class.
- Lieberman is, indeed, willing to speak at the GOP convention. Guess he must be angling for a position in a McCain administration. And to think, if a few old ladies hadn't accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan he'd be running for President now.
- McCain strongly suggests he'll pick an anti-choice running mate.
- The Washington Post does an admirable job of pointing out that McCain's economic plan, which is billed as aid to the working class, actually involves cutting taxes on the rich.
- Steve Benen has a pretty amazing list of McCain flip-flops. I'm all for candidates changing their minds, but some of these are 180-degree changes in the space of a few weeks.
