- Political reporters would have to be complete morons to take seriously the idea that Obama is being unfairly negative. I mean, he criticizes Clinton for not releasing her tax returns (which is a routine campaign issue and which she hit Senate opponent Rick Lazio for in 2000) and her campaign compares him to Ken Starr?! Perhaps this winning thing is going to Howard Woflson's head. The Obama campaigning, sensibly, points out that this it's totally incoherent. She's been talking about how she's been tested by Republican attacks for months and now a routine jab is off limits?
- Obama meanwhile announced he'd raised $55 million last month.
- And in yet another twist on the improbable Goolsbeegate story, it now appears that the story started with the Conservative Canadian Prime Minister's Chief of Staff and that he may have been aware of communications about NAFTA from the Clinton campaign that mirror Goolsbee's statements.
- The Obama campaign is denying reports (mentioned here on Tuesday) that they have a "secret stash" of delegates.
- Chris Cillizza has a plausible blueprint for a Clinton victory.
- We'll apparently know soon whether Michigan will hold a caucus. Pressure is building for new votes in both Michigan and Florida which probably makes Clinton happy since both states are favorable to her. Also, see Mark Schmitt's brilliant suggestion for Obama about what he should say about new votes in the two states.
- This article about screaming matches in the Clinton campaigning and the intense efforts on the part of some Clinton staffers to oust him is pretty juicy. You gotta love "[expletive] you!" in a political article.
- A group of Ohio superdelegates has teamed up (do they call themselves the super friends? or maybe The Economic Justice League?) to offer their support as a bloc to the candidate who convinces them he or she will protect American jobs. I'm a bit conflicted, on the one hand I guess it's better than angling for appointments in a new administration, on the other I don't like the idea of superdelegates deploying their power so aggressively.
- I'm so glad CNN is committed to answering the hard questions, like whether Cindi McCain is perfect (the answer from CNN by the way? Pretty much).
- Finally, this is only vaguely campaign-related, PRI's "Fair Game" (a pretty neat show that I don't think anyone has ever heard of) got Andrew W.K. to record a song (MP3 here) about John McLaughlin of the McLaughlin group and particularly a riff he went on about the potential death of John McCain and, um, the next man on the moon ... It's called the "McLaughlin Groove," I guess since he already used "ready to die" (via Spencer Ackerman).
