In the fall of this year, the U.S. Supreme Court will weigh the appeal of a multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed against Westboro Baptist Church for protesting and disrupting the funeral of Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, who died in Iraq in 2006. His father, Albert Snyder, sued the church successfully in 2007, but a federal appeals court overturned the lower court's decision in September 2009, citing First Amendment considerations.
