A traditional Indian wedding. But with people under 35 accounting for 75 percent of the population, and with the rapidly growing economic empowerment of women, the divorce rate in India has begun to climb as well. Now a proposed amendment to the country's marriage law, which would ease the obstacles to divorce, is touching off a debate over the place of marriage in Indian society.
