I was on the Rachel Maddow show last night with Chris Hayes guest hosting, talking about the so-called Ground Zero Mosque.
Two things I wish I had said: No. 1, the U.S. is not at war with Islam. Al-Qaeda is at war with Islam. That's not rhetoric; that's math.
No. 2, the First Amendment is No. 1 for a reason. If you don't have freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of association, you have nothing. If you can't defend the First Amendment, you shouldn't be an elected official.
