Stan Greenberg has accused Mark Penn of rigging his polls. Penn says he does no such thing. Ben Smith notes that Greenberg's accusation "brings out into the open a criticism of Penn that had come, before, largely from anonymous sources." I'll add to that that. When I wrote my piece on Mark Penn, quite a few pollsters e-mailed the same criticism to me. Whether that's professional jealousy, a lack of transparency on Penn's part -- he doesn't release raw numbers -- or actually rigged polls is hard to say. But it's certainly out there. It would be nice if Greenberg gave some examples and forced Penn to offer a more specific defense.
