Earlier, I suggested that McCain's abandonment of the radical pastors Hagee and Parsley would be long forgotten by the general election. I still believe that. But Sarah Posner, who knows the evangelical world much better than I do, suggests that some of them are seeing this as an affront, and it will further dampen enthusiasm for a candidate who lacks a natural rapport with that community. If McCain gets tepid turnout among evangelicals, that's a lot of votes he's going to have to account for.
