Which is, sadly, why I think so many Republicans are offended by the idea.
Pushing forward on the extreme hypothetical of ever capturing Osama bin Laden alive, Gen. Stanley McChrystal says he'd like to see it happen:
When McChrystal was asked whether the U.S. had given up on capturing bin Laden alive, he said, "Wow, no."The reality is that nothing would be more humiliating, more enervating, and more destructive to bin Laden as a person, as a terrorist symbol, or to the superstitious aura that Americans grant him than the image of him being brought before an American court as nothing more than a criminal. None.If bin Laden enters Afghanistan, "we would certainly go after trying to capture him alive and bring him to justice," McChrystal told Pentagon reporters from Kabul.
"I think that is something that is understood by everyone," he said.
