This seems like a sound strategy to me:
I'm seriously considering betting some money with a yet-to-be-determined disreputable internet gambling operation, just so I know who I want to win. Fantasy football was enough to get me interested in non-Redskins football; wasting $50 on the Seahawks might be enough to make me actually pay attention to parts of the telecast that aren't commercials.
For an empathetic guy like me, watching football is pretty damn dull. I like doing it, but only for 15, 30 minutes at a time. Unfortunately, I also like hanging out with my friends, drinking beer, and eating salty foods, so I'm at a bit of a crosscurrent.
My dislike for televised sports is a bit odd, actually. In high school, I was a football player and a wrestler, and I still play touch football as often as I can (and would play tackle if anyone would agree). Problem is, my love for actually running into people hasn't fostered an affinity for watching other people run into people. Maybe wasting some money would.
