The extremists responsible for this protest against Vogue magazine would have one of their own in the Oval Office. Shudder. Here's what happened: Vogue published a column called "Private Lives" in which the author, Lot Campbell, wrote about the abortion she had 22 weeks into her pregnancy, after her water broke and doctors told her the baby would not be born alive. "I chose what I believe was the path of least suffering, for myself, my husband, our future children, and mostly for the baby inside me," Campbell wrote. Simple enough, right? Who couldn't identify with the plight of expectant parents faced with a failed pregnancy? Who would presume to tell them they must carry such a pregnancy to term, only to deliver a dead fetus? The antis, that's who. They've complained, of course, about the barbarism of late-term abortion (even when the fetus isn't viable), but have also accused Vogue of "glamorizing" abortion by photographing Campbell and her daughter in pretty clothes and make-up. I mean, I hate to break this to you, but it's Vogue. Did you expect the ladies to be photographed in sweats or something? Seriously, though, it's worth repeating: This is a movement that would force women to deliver dead fetuses. And Mike Huckabee is all for it. --Dana Goldstein
