I'm glad to see Hillary admitting that there's no military solution in Iraq. But while that's good language, it actually means less than meets the eye when it comes to Iraq. Everyone -- including Petraeus -- makes that point, because enduring stability in that country requires internal political reconciliation, not merely security or sufficient troop levels. So for Hillary to say there's no military solution in Iraq is not the same as for Hillary to say that there's not an ongoing military component to her solution in Iraq. In other words, this isn't a statement of withdrawal. But it is useful language, and shows she's thinking along the right lines. If she'd admit the same about Iran, I'd feel a helluva lot more comfortable with her candidacy.
