Man, I wish more legislators lost elections for needless grandstanding like this. At least the guys trying to ban incandescent bulbs and Fluff have some reasonable public policy goals If you're going to come out for a ban on spinners, at least have the stones to join the culture schoolmarms and say that spinners contribute thug image [Joe Biden watch: yes, I realize spinners are not strictly a marker of thug or wannabe status] and are thus a threat to the fabric of community life; don't hide behind bogus "they're distracting!" arguments. If we're going to go there, we'd need a crackdown on rubbernecking, plus a ban on sports-bra-only or barechested jogging.
