I agree with Matt. I think my original position was too hasty (I forget, for instance, that in the 80s, serious Democratic contenders for president were all about wage and price controls), but a lot of what defined the more ferocious neoliberals -- a hostility to unions and entitlement programs, etc -- has been proven a bridge too far.
