I want to recommend Steve Clemons' post on the various ways in which Clinton and Obama have demonstrated their aptitude and familiarity with the legislative machinery of the country. We have a campaign process which doesn't really reward this sort of knowledge, or even much mention its existence, but it's important in all the obvious ways, and, at the very least, it should enter punditry enough to force presidential candidates to think seriously about the mechanics of their agendas, in the same way we force them to seriously think through the mechanics of the Iowa caucus. That's good government pabulum, I know, but it's true. So read Steve: It's a long and worthy tour through an important subject.
