It strikes me as woefully deficient that the exam's vision of African American history is limited to one question about the slave trade. And in case you were curious about the "correct" responses to some of the more subjective questions below: Our economy is a "capitalist economy" or "market economy." Americans can participate in their democracy through voting, joining a political party, helping on a campaign, joining a civic or community group, telling elected officials their opinions, calling Senators and Representatives, publicly supporting or opposing an issue or policy, running for office, or writing a letter to the editor. Susan B. Anthony "fought for women's rights" and "fought for civil rights." Saying she was a "feminist activist" or "one of the mothers of the American feminist movement" would not be an appropriate answer. --Dana Goldstein
