The New York Times has an interactive feature allowing readers to draft an imaginary Obama Cabinet. So who do Times readers support? Gaffe-centric Bill Richardson for state (Hillary is currently runner-up), Paul Volcker for treasury, Bush critic Richard Clarke for Homeland Security, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano as AG, and keeping Robert Gates in place at defense. A moderate slate.
I'd only add this about Janet Napolitano, who I'm generally a fan of: If she leaves Arizona before her term is up in 2010, a Republican will become governor. That would be a shame after all the work Napolitano and state Dems have done to build the party in the state. And if she sticks it out until 2010, Napolitano can run for John McCain's Senate seat, potentially a higher profile springboard than a Cabinet position.
