Evidence that this campaign, in its final weeks, has descended somewhat into farce: The AFL-CIO has located five "real" "Joe the Plumbers" (who just happen to support Obama) in response to McCain's debate gimmick of last week. Can we please have this election yet? Pretty please?
By the way, as Paul Krugman helpfully points out today, the average income of plumbers in Ohio is just $47,930. In other words, they earn more than young liberal magazine writers, but way, way less than the folks who'll see their taxes raised by Barack Obama.
