Earlier this week, Melissa Clouthier called Ben Smith's piece about the GOP going after Muslims as a whole, "patently false bullshit" before writing:
As for Islam. I suspect that the GOP and American people aren't anti-Islam because they don't know enough history. As time goes on, though, and the liberals and media continue to tell Americans how stupid they are about World Affairs Dahling, Americans will get themselves educated. This does not bode well for the whole “Religion of Peace” lie foisted by American liberals, aka the Press.
Ah yes, those dastardly liberals and their "religion of peace" nonsense.
This is my favorite genre of conservative media criticism--the one where they get mad at reporters for reporting on their actual beliefs. Seeing their own arguments accurately paraphrased gives them the impression that there is in fact, something wrong with holding an entire group of people collectively responsible for the actions of a tiny minority, and they respond to that discomfort by lashing out at the messenger, even as they reaffirm the original point.
