Conservatives have been complaining about this statement Michelle Obama made on the Tom Joyner show yesterday:
So, once again, we have the power. We've got this man in office. I think we're all proud of Barack and his accomplishments. Everybody I know in our communities are praying for us. Every day we feel that. And let me just tell your listeners that it means all the world to us to know that there are prayer circles out there and people who are keeping the spirits clean around us.
I'm not sure how this is qualitatively different from Sarah Palin shouting out her "prayer warriors," but conservatives insist this reveals some kind of pathological selfishness on Obama's part.
Not to be outdone by fellow conservatives, though, Glenn Beck took it a step further and, after being prompted by a caller, accused Michelle Obama of practicing "voodoo."
That's from StopBeck, who has a lot more patience than I do. Voodoo is a Haitian hybrid of traditional West African religious beliefs and Roman Catholicism, but I'm sure Beck didn't mean anything racial by it, because he doesn't think about stuff like that.
