Today is the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and I'll be updating the blog all day with relevant news and commentary. So far, Barack Obama is the only presidential candidate to send out a press release on the anniversary; check it out after the jump. Here's hoping the other candidates follow suit later today. In the meantime, check out my New Republic piece on how John McCain won South Carolina in part by pandering big time to some of the most extreme elements of the anti-choice right. And McCain used the story of his daughter Bridget's adoption to do it. She's the same daughter who was slurred as "illegitimate" by the anti-McCain robocalls of 2000.
