I tend to think the influence and relevance of just about all the conservative giants (Kirk, Oakenshott, etc) are overstated*, their names invoked as little more than a heuristic signaling intellectual depth on the part of the speaker, but Ross's reply to Wolfe on Kirk is a good read, and interesting on its own merits.
*Same goes for the liberals, incidentally. It gets me into trouble.
