If folks aren't following the trashtastic saga of Nicolas Sarkozy's lovelife, it's time to read up. You can begin with this article, where his ex-wife is quoted as saying, "There is a ridiculous side to him. He is not dignified. He is an unworthy president of the Republic. He has a behavioural problem," and calls him "a man who likes no-one, not even his children." Not the cleanest break the world has ever known. She's now back together with a publisher she had an affair with in 2006.Meanwhile, Sarkozy is engaged to model and pop singer Carla Bruni after a three-month courtship. The prevailing feeling about Bruni may be best described by the description of a fictional character based off her. The character was nicknamed "the Terminator," because she was "beautiful and bionic, with the look of a killer." Bruni has previously been linked to Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, who called her "the love of his life." She once lived with a publisher, but then fell in love with his son, whom she had a child with.Sarkozy, however, is smitten, and is apparently canceling meetings, constantly checking his phone for text messages, and generally acting like people do when they're in love. Asked to preview the upcoming political year, he said, "An end to 35-hour working weeks, create a French BBC, blah blah blah, and more importantly, did I mention that I love her?! I really do! I think she's the one!" But Bruni may not believe in "the one." In the past, when asked about her lovelife, Bruni said, "I am a tamer [of men], a cat, an Italian - monogamy bores me terribly. I am faithful...to myself! I am monogamous from time to time but I prefer polygamy and polyandry" On the other hand, "a friend of Miss Bruni told the authors of Ruptures that she had decided to put aside her life as a seductress and realised that 'she would be perfect for the job of First Lady'."(Picture used under a Creative Commons license from Flickr user Fr@ncois.)
