He even suggests that maybe Congress should ready some legislation that encourages Americans to do a bit more saving in general, and discourages the endless arms race of consumption. Seems sensible enough. Though, in reality, whether we spend or save the "stimulus" will probably have more to do with the particular effect the word "stimulus" has on our lizard brains than whether saving is, in general, a good or bad idea.
