Shakes and Neil are right to be concerned about fitting certain Democratic policy squares into the the "common good" circle. At the same time, though, there's no need to get carried away and try to fit the entire platform into two words. Haven't we been spotting the Republicans ten words? And even then, does the entire Republican agenda, as practiced, fit into "small government and lower taxes, family values, and a strong national defense"? Of course it doesn't.
