Just in time to remind us that the Washington Post isn't the only major newspaper to proudly feature brain-dead sexism on an ongoing basis, Marueen Dowd asserts today that "[s]ome women in their 30s, 40s and early-50s who favor Barack Obama have a phrase to describe what they don’t like about Hillary Clinton: Shoulder-pad feminism." Omitted: any evidence that "some women" is a set of people with any members except "Maureen Dowd." I suppose it would also be too much to ask that her editors ask for some examples of the "men-are-pigs" feminism that Dowd -- er, I mean, "some women" -- attribute to Clinton. But, then, a newspaper who had editors who would do that wouldn't hire someone to endlessly moan about how feminism is somehow responsible for her inability to date enough jerk Hollywood executives, her recent loss of car keys, and the lack of decent Chinese food in D.C. in the first place. The fact that the Times considers projecting this bizarre trivia onto a presidential campaign as serious political analysis remains beyond my comprehension.
