I'm rather embarrassed to say that I, too, sit in front of my tv on debate nights with my eyes glued to the little squiggly lines tracking the reactions of some undecided voters tucked away in a room somewhere. It's stupid. But what else is there to do? Debates are about perceptions. These are perceptions. In a weird way, those squiggly lines are the true subject of the debate. The candidates talking are just a means to that end. But what do those squiggly lines mean, really? And how did they get there? My colleague Sam Boyd reports.
